What’s Technology To Me?

Technology has various advantages and disadvantages.  In the modern era, man has made innumerous inventions and discoveries.   It has helped man in many ways.  But it has got serious disadvantages too.  We should utilize technological progress in such a way that would not be detrimental to us in the long-run.  No country can progree without technology and research.

Technology has saved our time.  For example the mode of transport earlier was very difficult.  People used to either walk, or use caravans, horses or camels. We could not imagine a world-tour then. But nowadays we have two-wheelers, 4-wheelers, train and even airplanes.  We can reach any part of the globe anytime.  Our quality of life have also become better because of technology.  We have vehicles, computers, mobile phones,  televisions, mixie, refrigerators and any luxuries.  Even poor people can afford some of the luxuries like tv, radio etc.  The invention of computers and the internet is a very big gain since it has reduced a very great amount of our work and time.  We are able to communicate to any person in any part of the world at any time by phone or internet.  This is one of the greatest achievements of technology.  Life has become easy as compared to our ancestors.

Even though technology has made our life easier it has numerous disadavantages also.  There is a wide economy gap between the people now especially in underdeveloped and developing countries.  The rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer.  Technology helps the rich more. The rich make use of technology more.  Only the rich people can afford the things that technology provides. Technology has resulted in a big competition. It is the survival of the fittest now.  Almost everybody has got good quality education so inorder to survive we need to be smart and has to deliver our best.  So in order to succeed we need to compete with the best.  Even school children are compelled by their parents to compete with their friends.  So the child goes into depression if he/she is not able to fare well in the exams.  The depression makes the child even worse.  It changes the character of the child in the long-run.  She should be given counseling to prevent big disasters.  People have also become very selfish  and uncooperative.

Again another disadvantage of technology is lack of time.  Even though we save a lot of time life has become more complex.  And in order to become the best we need to put in our best for which we take more time.  The family suffers because of it.  Husbands wont have time for wives and wives wont have time for husbands.  This may lead to a divorce eventually.  Even though people come home from work, they may have calls from office  so they will be concentrated on their work only.  They wont have time for their children  which leads to depression in children.

Another problem is from the health point of view.  As life becomes busy, people will suffer from stress.  They may not have the time for having food or even for sleep.  The night–shifts will change the biological clock.  People suffering from ailments may not even have time to consult the doctor or to take adequate rest at home.  This will ultimately lead to serious problems. To conclude, technology should be there in society.  But the progress should not affect the equilibrium of life leading to serious problems.
